“Community”: A community is a social unit (a group of living things) with commonality such as place, norms, religion, values, customs, or identity. Communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area (e.g. a country, village, town, or neighbourhood) or in virtual space through communication platforms. Durable good relations that extend beyond immediate genealogical ties also define a sense of community, important to their identity, practice, and roles in social institutions such as family, home, work, government, society, or humanity at large.[1] Although communities are usually small relative to personal social ties, “community” may also refer to large group affiliations such as national communities, international communities, and virtual communities.

Three engaged kinksters talked ever so serious 😉 about their personal experiences of being an ambassador/sash wearer. We thought it is important because a lot of people don’t really understand: “What is that?… with those ‘Mr’s or ‘Ms’s or ‘Mx’s (followed by some fetish like “Leather” or “Latex” or “Bear” of “Fetish”)??? What is the use of those ambassadors in the Gay Kinky scene? What do they do?
And, of course, the question: what does “community” mean to me anyway?
These three talked about exactly that: the purpose of community for the individual kinkster, what ‘community’ means to all of us. Stevio, James and John about the future of the kink-scene from their unique personal experiences as a sash wearer, an ambassador in their own particular way. With only a wee bit of teasing and bitching 😉
